He studied Ophthalmology In Granada, Madrid, London, The United States (Baltimore, Chicago and Houston). He subspecialized in Refractive Surgery (cataract, myopia, hipermetropia and astigmatism) and Retina in the CERYC (National Center of Specialities Ramon and Cajal) in Madrid in 1983 and 1984 and he also studied another subspecialty, Paediatric Ophthalmology.

Scholar SAOE In Chicago, scholar of honor of the Prof. Castroviejo, Scholarship Latin-American Institute of Ophthalmology, the first European Scholar of PAAO (Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology). 

Director of the ABOEI (Spanish Latinoamerican Eye Bank).

He has presented multiple Conferences and international works In The United States, Europe, Africa and Asia: from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bogota, Caracas, Singapore, Tokyo, Mexico, New Orleans, Miami, Chicago. 

It has held Director positions in several International organizations: APAO (Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology), ALACCSA International, Hihglights of Ophthalmology.. Collaborating with SEEI, (Surgical Eye Expeditions International). 

Pioneer worldwide in Refractive surgery, In the use of foldable intraocular lenses for cataract surgery (he designed in USA his own lens), as well as in surgery of myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia and without lasik (lasik technique 100 % laser (Femtosecond Laser).

Dr. Marcos was the first in Andalucia and one of the pioneers in Europe to perform the newest Cataracts Surgery, known as Femtophaco or Flacs (Femtosecond Laser assisted catarct surgery).
